Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the past five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
